Whether you’re a college-bound high school student or already attending a college or university, Army ROTC has scholarships available. Scholarships are awarded based on a student’s merit and grades, not financial need.

High School Students


Enlisted Soldiers
Enlisted Soldiers can pursue a degree and earn a commission: Green to Gold, SMP National Guard, SMP Army Reserve.
Living Expenses
Army ROTC scholarships also provide monthly living allowances for each school year, depending on your level in the Army ROTC curriculum. This allowance is also available to all non-scholarship Cadets enrolled in the Army ROTC Advanced Course (3rd and 4th years).
Room and Board Incentive
Freshman with an Army ROTC scholarship are eligible to receive a stipend that pays part of their room and board costs for their first year. They must live in the dorms and maintain academic and physical fitness standards. Department Scholarships
CSU Army ROTC students have the opportunity to apply to a variety of department scholarships, which offer additional financial support to our outstanding cadets.

Bronze Boot/Freedom Scholarship
The Bronze Boot/Freedom Scholarship provides support for undergraduate students enrolled in the Army ROTC Military Science program, who are interested in military commission.

Harry L. Willett Army ROTC Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Harry L Willett Foundation, to support Army ROTC contracted cadets.

Havighorst ROTC Scholarship- Army
The Havighorst ROTC Scholarship was created by Colonel R.K. Havighorst, to support ROTC cadets. This scholarship is awarded to sophomore ROTC cadets who are interested in a military career.

LTC Huffman History Scholarship
This scholarship was created by LTC Huffman’s family to honor his legacy, a member of the RAM Battalion cadre from 2014-2017. This scholarship was created to support Army ROTC cadets pursuing a degree in History or Criminal Justice.

Major General Robert L. Halverson Army ROTC Scholarship
This scholarship was created by MG Robert L. Halverson, a graduate of the RAM Battalion. This scholarship was created to support Army ROTC cadets who demonstrate highly motivated behavior and a commitment to leadership development.

Matthies ROTC Scholarship
The Matthies ROTC Scholarship is provided by the generous contributions of Colonel (retired) Michael T. Matthies. COL Matthies served as the Military Science I Instructor for the Ram Battalion from 1976-1979. This scholarship is awarded to a non contracted cadet who has demonstrated strong desire to attain a commission as an Army officer through academic and ROTC accomplishments.

ROTC Class of 1963 Scholarship in Memory of Colonel Robert W. Patterson, Assistant Professor of Military Science
The COL Patterson scholarship was started by the RAM Battalion class of 1963 in honor of their APMS, COL Robert Paterson. This scholarship is awarded to cadets with a commitment to and development of leadership.

Sprengel Family Heritage Scholarship
Two generations of Sprengels started their military service at CSU: Jack, a 1957 graduate and Army ROTC commissionee, served in the Korean War, and Luke, Jack’s grandson, a 2006 alum enlisted as a green beret. The Sprengel Family Heritage Scholarship is awarded to a College of Natural Sciences student who is also in Army ROTC.
