Assistant Professor of Military Science, XO

Major Elizabeth V. Lewis is a native of East Hampton, New York. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2012 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Reserve through the University of Rhode Island’s Army Reserve Officer Training Corps. She holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and psychology and a master’s degree in operational studies from Command and General Staff College.

MAJ Lewis’ military career began in the Army Reserve, where she served as a Platoon Leader and Executive Officer with the 140th Quartermaster Company at Fort Totten, New York. She then deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as the Plans Officer with the 389th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion. Following her deployment, she served as the Transportation Officer with the 389th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion. Next, she served as an Observer, Coach/Trainer with the 75th Training Command at Fort Eustis, Virginia. MAJ Lewis then served as the Aide-de-Camp to the Commanding General of the 85th Army Reserve Support Command in Arlington Heights, Illinois, followed by service as the Company Commander of the 375th Quartermaster Company (Field Feeding) in Wilson, North Carolina.

After serving 10 years as a Troop Program Unit officer, MAJ Lewis was selected for the Active Guard Reserve program in 2022. Her first AGR assignment was as the Plans Team Chief for the 1189th Transportation Surface Brigade in North Charleston, South Carolina. MAJ Lewis then moved to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where she completed the resident Command and General Staff College.

In addition to her military service, MAJ Lewis served as a Military Technician for 10 years. Her civilian positions included Brigade Supervisory Staff Administrator, Brigade Staff Operations and Training Specialist, Brigade Staff Administrator Specialist, and Company Unit Administrator.

MAJ Lewis’ awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (1OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2OLC), Army Achievement Medal (2OLC), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (2OLC), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with M Device and Bronze Hourglass, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, and Combat Action Badge.

MAJ Lewis’ military education includes the Quartermaster Basic Officers Leadership Course, Quartermaster Captains Career Course, Multifunctional Logistics Course, and the Command and General Staff Officer Course.
