CPT Adam Graetz

Captain Graetz is currently the Ram Battalion XO and MSII Instructor at Colorado State University.  As XO and MSII instructor CPT Graetz is able to mentor and lead the cadets at many different points during their journey to become the next generation of Army Officers.

CPT Graetz is from Largo, FL.  He enlisted in the Army in 2007 as a combat medic.  He served in the 82nd Airborne.  While assigned to the 82nd, he deployed as a company medic to Ramadi and Fallujah, Iraq.  While deployed he applied to OCS and was accepted upon his return to Fort Bragg, NC.  Once he graduated OCS in 2011, he branched Engineer and attended BOLC at Fort Leonardwood, MO.  Once he completed BOLC he was assigned to 3ID 2/3 BSTB at Fort Stewart, GA.  He served as platoon leader of a brand-new Engineer recon and security platoon.  This was a new asset to 3ID, so he wrote and implemented all new SOPs and training for this platoon.  He was selected as the only 2LT to deploy as part of 3IDs advise and assist mission to Afghanistan.  During this deployment he served both as the unit medic and advisory engineer to the commander of The Afghan National Police for RC South.

CPT Graetz then reported to Fort Jackson to serve as company XO for Charlie Company 1/13th INF REG (basic training).  During this time CPT Graetz also served as company commander for an 8-month period.  After assignment at Fort Jackson CPT Graetz reported to EN Captains Career Course (CCC) at Fort Leonardwood, MO.  While completing CCC, CPT Graetz also received his master’s degree in Geological Engineering.  Upon completion of CCC, CPT Graetz reported to 555 EN BDE at Joint base Lewis Mchord, WA.  While at JBLM he served as Assistant S3 and OIC of Battalion training.  CPT Graetz left active duty in OCT of 2016

In October of 2016, CPT Graetz joined the US Army Reserve as part of 3-348 TSBN, CPT Graetz was assigned to Charlie team as Engineer Section OIC.  During this time CPT Graetz was an OC/T for an Engineer Company Commander during an XCTC rotation.  Upon returning from XCTC CPT Graetz was selected for command of HHC 3-348 in DEC of 2017.  During this time CPT Graetz served as an OC/T for a Scout and Sniper Company.  He also successfully mobilized his Battalion to Fort Hood for a 1-year mobilization.

In June of 2019, CPT Graetz returned to active duty at Fort Carson, CO.  He was selected to stand up 4th Security Forces Assistance Brigade (SFAB).  He served as Brigade Engineer for 13 months and served as an Engineer Advisor Team (EAT) team leader for 12 months.  During this time his team focused on EUCOM missions.  CPT Graetz then moved to Atlanta to serve as Battalion S3 OIC for 1/347 a OC/T unit stationed at Fort Gilliam, GA.  During this time his Battalion covered multiple XCTC events and trained over 2500 Soldiers.

CPT Graetz’s military education includes Combat Medic AIT, Airborne School, active-duty OCS, Engineer Basic Officer Leaders Course, Engineer Captains Career Course, Security Forces Military Advisor Academy, and Master Resilience Trainer.

CPT Graetz’s military awards and decorations include: Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, ARCOM with silver oak leaf cluster and bronze oak leaf cluster, AAM with 3 bronze oak leaf clusters, Navy Commendation Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Medal with M device, NATO medal, and Parachutist Badge.
